PHSC strives to honor and recognize students for accomplishments related to performances in groups in the following ways:
Dr. Felisha Barker Outstanding Student Leader of the Year Award
Each year, several students on each campus are recognized as “Outstanding Student Leaders” for their contributions to their campus, but have also contributed significantly toward new programs, activities and college committees as a student member.
Service Awards
The Student Experience and Engagement Office recognize the club that has participated in the highest number of organized community service activities. The club must submit proof of these activities to the Student Experience and Engagement Coordinators.
Corporal Timothy J. Read Student Veteran Exemplary Student Award
PHSC recognizes and values the sacrifices members of our military have made for our country, state and local community. Veteran students bring experiences with them to college—inside the classroom and out. To honor our veteran students, the Corporal Timothy J. Read Student Veteran Exemplary Student Award was created.
This award recognizes the contributions of the veterans in our campus communities. This service includes their active engagement in the planning and implementation of campus events and activities, clubs and organizations and campus life.
Five Star Award
The Five Star Club Award recognizes student organizations that demonstrate exceptional leadership, community engagement and campus involvement. This progressive recognition system features five achievement levels—from Initiate to Legendary—each requiring increasing participation in Student Government Association (SGA) meetings, campus events, community service and leadership development.
Clubs advance through the program by meeting specific criteria, including regular meetings, event contributions, officer training and service hour requirements. The highest Legendary level is reserved for clubs that complete more than 200 community service hours, contribute to more than 12 campus events and maintain consistent SGA participation. This award celebrates clubs that go beyond basic participation to become true campus leaders and community champions.
Faculty and Staff Award
The Exemplary Student Engagement Award recognizes faculty and staff members who demonstrate exceptional dedication to student success through meaningful engagement, mentorship and support. Recipients go above and beyond their regular duties to create positive learning experiences, foster student growth and make a lasting impact on student development.
Advisor Gifts
Each year our club/organization advisors are presented with an advisor gift by the Student Experience and Engagement Office. The gift is a recognition of their time and effort and is presented at the Annual Award Ceremony. If a club wishes to give a gift to their advisor, please do so at the award ceremony. Time will not be given as part of the award ceremony. No exceptions will be made.
Other Club Awards
Clubs and organizations may also recognize their officers, members and advisors with other awards. These types of awards must be purchased with the club/organization’s fundraising account and can be presented at a club meeting but not at the Annual Distinguished Alumni and Student Award Ceremony.
